The Counterfeiters

The Counterfeiters is a gripping drama based on the memoir "Komando padělatelů" by Adolf Burger, which recounts his experiences as a Jewish counterfeiter coerced into assisting Nazi Germany's secret plan to flood the UK economy with forged currency during World War II. At the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, Burger and fellow prisoners, including Karl Markovics' character Salomon Sorowitsch, use their artistic and printing talents to forge British pounds in an effort to sabotage the operation. As they navigate their complicated loyalties and moral dilemmas, the prisoners successfully counterfeit the British pound but intentionally delay the forgery of US dollars, sensing the war is turning against the Nazis.
