Burt Reynolds stars as Nick McKenna, a hardboiled veteran cop, who reluctantly takes on an 8-year-old boy named Devon Butler (Norman D. Golden II) as his partner to solve a murder investigation. Together, they navigate a series of comedic events to find the killer, Vinnie Fountain (Ray Sharkey), and bring him to justice. Along the way, Devon becomes a hero and Detective McKenna's perception of children changes, leading to an unexpected friendship.
