The Notorious Landlady

An American diplomat, Character Name (Jack Lemmon), rents a room from a charming young woman, Carly Hardwicke (Kim Novak), a fellow American expatriate in London. When Carly's name is mentioned to a colleague, Franklyn Ambruster (Fred Astaire), he is charmed by her, and after meeting her, he and the diplomat agree she is innocent of suspicion. As the diplomat, Character Name (Jack Lemmon), becomes closer to Carly, he learns that a mysterious man was seen near her, and he decides to help her clear her name. Together, they uncover a complex web of deception and ultimately expose the true culprit, clearing Carly's name in the process.
