Fred Astaire was a renowned American dancer, singer, actor, and choreographer born Frederick Austerlitz on May 10, 1899, in Omaha, Nebraska. He began his show business career at age five and formed a successful partnership with sister Adele, lasting 27 years, before transitioning to Hollywood where he starred alongside Ginger Rogers in ten classic musicals. Astaire's eclectic style influenced American Smooth ballroom dance and earned him numerous awards, including an Honorary Academy Award.
