In this 1942 musical romantic comedy, Fred Astaire plays Bob Davis, a penniless American dancer who becomes embroiled in the affairs of a wealthy Argentine family after they mistake him for their secret admirer. Rita Hayworth stars as Maria Acuña, the beautiful daughter at the center of the mix-up, and Adolphe Menjou heads the cast as her father, Eduardo Acuña. As Bob's plans unfold, he must navigate a complicated web of love letters, flower deliveries, and romantic misunderstandings to win over Maria's heart - and outwit her disapproving father in the process.
