When a German art dealer living in the US returns to his native country, he finds himself drawn to Nazi propaganda. Paul Lukas stars as Martin Schulz, a man whose actions are slowly consumed by the ideology. In Germany, Martin becomes embroiled in the Nazi Party and must navigate the treacherous landscape of his own morality. His relationships with his wife Elsa (Mady Christians) and his son Heinrich (Peter van Eyck) are tested by his newfound allegiance, while a young woman he once knew, Griselle (K.T. Stevens), finds herself caught in the midst of the rising Nazism.
