Peter van Eyck was a German-American actor born Götz von Eick on July 16, 1911, in Pomerania, Germany. He established a career as a character actor in the United States in the 1930s before returning to Germany after World War II and becoming a leading man in West German cinema. Notable roles include The Wages of Fear, Mr. Arkadin, and the Dr. Mabuse films, for which he received two German Film Award nominations.
