Five Graves to Cairo

Corporal John Bramble (Franchot Tone), the sole survivor of a British tank crew, stumbles upon the North African desert town of Sidi Halfaya and assumes the identity of the deceased waiter Davos to save himself after being taken over by German forces. He learns that Davos was a valued German spy, but manages to play along, eventually deducing the location of the "Five Graves to Cairo," hidden supply dumps designed by Field Marshal Erwin Rommel (Erich von Stroheim). With the help of Mouche (Anne Baxter), a French chambermaid with a personal vendetta against the British, Bramble must navigate the treacherous landscape of the hotel and its German occupants, all while trying to prevent Rommel's plans from coming to fruition.
