The Lemon Drop Kid

The Lemon Drop Kid is a 1951 American comedy film starring Bob Hope as Sidney Melbourne, a New York City swindler who becomes involved in a fake charity scam to raise money to pay off gangster Moose Moran. He dons a Santa suit and collects donations to help a group of elderly women, while Brainey Baxter (Marilyn Maxwell) helps him come up with the plan. The scheme goes awry, but the Kid eventually outsmarts his accomplices and pays off Moran, allowing Nellie Thursday (Jane Darwell) and her husband to be reunited.
