Ikimono no kiroku

In this 1955 drama, Kiichi Nakajima (Toshirō Mifune), an aging foundry patriarch, is consumed by terror of nuclear annihilation and becomes determined to move his family to Brazil for their perceived safety. His family, however, tries to have him declared incompetent, and a family-court counselor, Dr. Harada (Takashi Shimura), witnesses his obsession slide into ruin, questioning whether ignoring the atomic threat is any saner.
