Cats

In the 2019 musical fantasy film "Cats," a tribe of cats called the Jellicles must decide yearly which one will ascend to the Heaviside Layer and come back to a new Jellicle life. The film follows Victoria, a young white cat, as she is introduced to the Jellicles and prepares for the Jellicle Ball, an annual ceremony where cats must compete to be chosen to go to the Heaviside Layer. As the Jellicles sing and dance about themselves, Victoria forms connections with the other cats, including Grizabella, a former glamour cat who was banished from the tribe, and Old Deuteronomy, the wise and beloved matriarch of the Jellicles. In the end, Old Deuteronomy names Grizabella the Jellicle Choice and sends her off to the Heaviside Layer.
