30-something Daphne, recently single after ending a long-term, dead-end relationship, explores new possibilities over the next year, reaching a new chapter in her life. Following advice from a friend, she decides to take a six-month sabbatical from alcohol and men as she feels she lost four years with her boyfriend. She moves into her sister Billie's poolhouse and meets Frank, a free-spirited bad boy, and Jack, a sober, intelligent, sensitive writer. Daphne finds herself bouncing between the two men, enjoying the distinct ways each sees her, and eventually discovers she is pregnant with Jack's child, causing tension in their relationship.
