Mr. & Mrs. Smith

Ann and David Smith are a married couple living in New York City who, though in love, have disagreements that last for days before they reconcile. Ann asks David if he would marry her again if he had it to do over, and he responds that he would not, citing the loss of his freedom and independence. As they separately discover that their marriage was not legally valid due to a jurisdictional mishap, they engage in a series of comedic misadventures as they navigate their way through the divorce process, including a romantic dinner at a rundown restaurant, a disastrous dinner date with a teetotaler, and a skiing vacation at a Lake Placid resort where David pretends to be sick to avoid Ann's advances. In the end, David's deception leads to a romantic reconciliation with Ann, as he realizes he cannot live without her.
