Two domestic robots, ValCom 17485 (Andy Kaufman) and AquaCom 89045 (Bernadette Peters), fall in love and decide to strike out on their own. They are joined by Catskil, a standup comic robot, and assemble a small robot, Philco (Phil), whom they treat as their child. The robots embark on a quest to find a place to live and escape their factory, pursued by Crimebuster, a malfunctioning law-enforcement robot.
