Giovanna (Giovanna Mezzogiorno) and her husband Filippo (Filippo Nigro) are a couple struggling to maintain their love and connection in their mundane lives. Their world is turned upside down when they meet an elderly man, Massimo Girotti, who suffers from transient global amnesia. As Giovanna cares for him, she begins to reflect on her life and turns to her neighbor, Lorenzo (Raoul Bova), for comfort. A romantic connection develops between them, but their feelings are complicated by Lorenzo's impending move and the mystery surrounding the old man, who is revealed to be Davide Veroli, a Jewish Holocaust survivor whose past holds a powerful secret.
