In 1976, John Guillermin's remake of King Kong brought a new era of terror to New York City as an oil company expedition unwittingly disturbed the peace of a giant ape. Captured and taken to Manhattan for exhibition, Kong quickly became tamed by Dwan, a beautiful actress whose presence calmed the monstrous beast. But when Wilson, the oil executive who had brought Kong back to civilization, decided to transport the ape to America as a promotional gimmick, Kong's fate was sealed. In the chaos that followed, Kong went on a rampage through the city, leaving destruction and death in his wake until he finally fell to his demise, leaving Dwan traumatized and forever changed by her encounter with the legendary giant ape.
