Sanatorium pod Klepsydra

The Hourglass Sanatorium follows a young Jewish man, Józef (Jan Nowicki), as he travels through a dream-like world to visit his dying father, Jakub (Tadeusz Kondrat), in a mystical sanatorium where time behaves unpredictably. The film is an adaptation of Bruno Schulz's story collection Sanatorium Under the Sign of the Hourglass, with a unique blend of elements from the turn-of-the-century Galicia where Schulz grew up and Has' own pre-World War II memories. The film's narrative is reflected in its visually potent phantasmagoria, with Joseph re-entering childhood episodes with his eccentric father, befriending a young boy named Rudolf, and experiencing a series of surreal reflections on the Holocaust.
