The Inn of the Sixth Happiness

Ingrid Bergman stars as Gladys Aylward, a British woman who becomes a missionary in China during the Second Sino-Japanese War. After being rejected as a missionary, she saves her money to travel to China, where she finds a new sense of purpose running an inn and serving as a foot inspector, enforcing the government's command to eradicate foot binding. With the help of Captain Lin Nan (Curd Jürgens), she saves the lives of hundreds of war orphans and earns the nickname "She who loves." The film follows Aylward's journey as she falls in love with Lin and faces the challenges of war, loss, and sacrifice.
