Jian guo da ye

The Founding of a Republic is a historical drama that reenacts the final years of the Chinese Communist Revolution, from the end of the Second Sino-Japanese War in 1945 to the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949. The film follows Mao Zedong and Chiang Kai-shek as they meet to consider a peace negotiation, only to ultimately break down and resume the civil war. Tang Guoqiang plays Mao Zedong and Zhang Guoli plays Chiang Kai-shek, with the film also featuring Liu Jin, Wang Wufu, and Liu Sha as other key figures.
