In 1930s Mississippi, Ray Gibson and Claude Banks, two vastly different New Yorkers, form an unlikely friendship after being wrongly convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. They experience racism, bootlegging, and hardship as they try to navigate the harsh realities of Camp 8 and later find ways to escape their confinement. Despite years of separation and heartache, Ray and Claude ultimately find a way to break free and start anew, reclaiming their lives and finding happiness together in Harlem.
