Quai d'Orsay

The French Minister is a 2013 French comedy film directed by Bertrand Tavernier, starring Thierry Lhermitte as Alexandre Taillard de Vorms, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Raphaël Personnaz as Arthur Vlaminck, a young speechwriter hired to write the minister's speeches. As Arthur navigates the challenges of working for a demanding boss, he must contend with the sensibilities of his boss, the dirty dealings within the Quai d'Orsay, and the complexities of international diplomacy. The film takes an initially comedic look at the French Foreign Ministry, but also explores more serious themes as France opposes the 2003 Invasion of Iraq.
