Countdown

In the late 1960s, NASA activates the "Pilgrim Project" to send one astronaut to the Moon in a one-way rocket, beating the Soviet Union's planned launch. Lee (James Caan), a mission commander, is chosen and trained by Chiz (Robert Duvall) for the mission, but their relationship is complicated by Chiz's own motivations. As Lee orbits the Moon, he encounters a malfunction and must rely on his wits to survive, eventually finding the shelter pod and making his way back to it.
