In 1971, Jim McCormick (Jim Caviezel), a former hydroplane pilot, joins a small town's community-owned racing team in Madison, Indiana, where he fixes up his old boat and brings hope to the blighted industrial city. With the blessing of his wife (Mary McCormack) and son (Jake Lloyd), Jim enters the 1971 Gold Cup hydroplane race, marking the community's resurgence in the sport. The film, based on a true story, stars Jim Caviezel as a driver who comes out of retirement to lead the team.
