The Road Warrior

In post-apocalyptic Australia, former policeman Max Rockatansky drives through the desert Outback, scavenging for food and petrol, haunted by the death of his family. He helps a community of settlers at an oil refinery compound and defends them against marauders led by biker Wez. With his skills as a driver and his dog's help, Max outmanoeuvres the marauders and eventually leads them into a trap, killing Wez and the gang leader Lord Humungus.
