Piñero

Piñero is a 2001 American biopic about the troubled life of Nuyorican poet and playwright Miguel Piñero, starring Benjamin Bratt as the title character. The film, written and directed by Leon Ichaso, premiered at the Montreal World Film Festival and later received a limited theatrical release in the United States. Piñero's prison experiences, including his time in hard-core Sing-Sing, are the basis for the 1974 Tony-nominated play Short Eyes, which earned him notoriety and fame.
