The Blue Max

A young pilot in the German air force of 1918, disliked as lower-class and unchivalrous, tries ambitiously to earn the medal offered for 20 kills. George Peppard stars as Lt. Bruno Stachel, a lower-class pilot who becomes a rival to the aristocratic Willi von Klugermann, played by Jeremy Kemp. The film explores the decline of chivalry and the advent of total war during World War I.
