The Illustrated Man

A man with tattoos on his body tells three stories of the future to a fellow tramp, Willie, on the road. Each tattoo represents a different vision of the world to come, including a futuristic nursery with a virtual reality environment that becomes a deadly game ("The Veldt"), a group of astronauts stranded on a rainy Venusian planet ("The Long Rain"), and a world where adults have foreseen the end of the world and are preparing for it ("The Last Night of the World"). The tales come to life when stared at directly, and the audience is left questioning the fate of the tramp, Willie, who eventually discovers a dark secret about the man's past.
