The Flame and the Arrow

In medieval Lombardy, a Robin Hood-like figure, Dardo Bartoli (Burt Lancaster), leads a band of outlaws against their Hessian conquerors, with the help of his loyal followers and a noblewoman, Anne de Hesse (Virginia Mayo), who is also being forced to marry against her will. The rebels plan a daring rescue, and Dardo's son, Rudi, is taken captive by the ruthless Count Ulrich ("The Hawk", Frank Allenby), who threatens to hang Dardo unless his niece is released. As the story unfolds, Dardo's unyielding spirit and bravery inspire his followers to join the fight, and ultimately lead to a thrilling showdown between the rebels and the Hessian forces.
