Ingrid Bergman plays Alicia Huberman, the American daughter of a convicted German war criminal, who is recruited by U.S. government agent T.R. Devlin (Cary Grant) to infiltrate a group of German émigrés in Rio de Janeiro. As they fall in love, Alicia is instructed to seduce Alex Sebastian, an IG Farben executive hiding out in Brazil, leading to a complicated web of espionage and romance.
