We Are Legion: The Story of the Hacktivists

The film "We Are Legion: The Story of the Hacktivists" (2012) is a documentary that explores the workings and beliefs of the self-described "hacktivist" collective, Anonymous. The story of Anonymous is assumed to stem from the imageboard 4chan, and the film outlines major turning points and "operations" in their history, including the Habbo raids, the Hal Turner raid, Project Chanology, the Epilepsy Foundation forum invasion, the Sarah Palin email hack, Operation Titstorm, and Operation Payback. Through interviews with current members, people recently returned from prison or facing trial, writers, academics, activists, and major players in various "raids," the documentary traces Anonymous' evolution from merry pranksters to a full-blown movement with a global reach, the most transformative civil disobedience of our time.
