Beyond Rangoon

Dr. Laura Bowman (Patricia Arquette), a young widow, is unwittingly drawn into political turmoil in Burma in 1988, joining anti-government rallies with university students, including U Aung Ko (U Aung Ko), who becomes her unofficial tour guide. As they navigate the brutality of the military dictatorship, they attempt to escape to Thailand. Along the way, Laura, a doctor, finds a new purpose in life helping at a refugee camp's hospital.
