Glenn Ford plays Elliott Nash, a TV writer blackmailed by Dan Shelby, as the blackmailer's threats escalate. Nell Nash, played by Debbie Reynolds, is the star of a Broadway musical and must keep her marriage to Elliott from Shelby. Elliott decides to murder the blackmailer, Dan Shelby, and hides the body in the foundation of a gazebo his wife has bought, with the help of Sam Thorpe, the contractor, and Miss Chandler, the real estate agent.
