A body is found floating in the Torres Strait, leading Ted King (Chips Rafferty) to investigate a murder connected to a people smuggling ring involving one of his men, Yusep (Lloyd Berrell). He receives help from Peter Merriman (Charles Tingwell), the playboy owner of King's company, who romances King's daughter Rusty (Ilma Adey), and together they rescue Rusty from Yusep's kidnappers.
