In this brutal and unflinching women-in-prison drama-thriller, female prisoners are subjected to the horrors of drug abuse, prostitution, and rampant sadism on a remote island prison. When an escape attempt goes awry, the fugitives discover that escaping can be as dangerous as remaining in the prison. This early example of the genre, directed by Jesús Franco, is marked by its raw and unapologetic portrayal of the harsh realities faced by women incarcerated.
