In this powerful and poignant coming-of-age drama, freshman high-school student Melinda refuses to speak after calling the cops on a popular summer party where she was brutally raped by senior Andy Evans. With her old friends snubbing her for being a "rat" and her parents too busy to notice her troubles, Melinda struggles to find solace, until she finds refuge in her art class headed by Mr. Freeman.
