A chilling portrait of adolescence and parental disaffection, "Benny's Video" follows a 14-year-old boy obsessed with violent films as he makes one of his own and shows it to his parents, with tragic results. Set in Vienna, the film centers on Benny, a teenager who views much of his life through video images, and his well-to-do parents Anna and Georg, who enable Benny's focus on video cameras and images despite being emotionally absent themselves. The film is a masterclass in subtlety and unease, building to a haunting climax that indicts not the boy, but those who failed him.
