In a powerful coming-of-age comedy-drama, two young Native American men embark on a road trip to retrieve their father's ashes, navigating their complex relationships and identities along the way. Victor Joseph, a hot-tempered basketball player with a tumultuous past, teams up with Thomas Builds-the-Fire, an eccentric storyteller who reveres his adoptive father as a hero. As they journey from their Idaho reservation to Phoenix, Arizona, where their father's ashes await, Victor and Thomas confront their conflicting views on being "Indian," their own identities, and the legacy of trauma and abuse that haunts them both. Through their adventures and heart-to-hearts, they find a path towards acceptance and reconciliation with their pasts and each other.
