Gabriel Pascal's enjoyable adaptation of George Bernard Shaw's 1905 play brings to life a quirky and characterful tale of idealistic young Barbara Undershaft, daughter of wealthy arms manufacturer Andrew Undershaft, who rebels against her estranged father by joining the Salvation Army. Wooed by professor-turned-preacher Adolphus Cusins, Barbara eventually grows disillusioned with her causes and begins to see things from her father's perspective, in a social satire that tackles conventional morals and social creeds with wry humor and irony.
