A 1948 American drama film directed by Frank Capra, State of the Union tells the story of a man's desire to run for the nomination as the Republican candidate for President and the machinations of those around him. A successful businessman is urged to run, but this requires uncomfortable compromises on both political and marital levels. As he navigates the cutthroat world of politics, his wife becomes increasingly disillusioned with the moral compromises she believes her husband has made in pursuit of power.
