Lewis Shepard Stone was a renowned American actor known for his long-standing contract at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and his iconic portrayal of Judge James Hardy in the Andy Hardy film series. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1929 for The Patriot, and appeared in seven films with Greta Garbo. Stone also showcased his range in a variety of roles, including Dr. Otternschlag in Grand Hotel and police captain in Bureau of Missing Persons.
