Letty Lynton

Letty Lynton, a socialite played by Joan Crawford, returns to New York after abandoning her lover Emile Renaul in South America, where she starts a romance with Jerry Darrow on a shipboard voyage. After Emile's persistent attempts to win her back, Letty poisons him and concocts an alibi for herself, which is supported by her boyfriend Jerry and her mother.
