Three Wise Fools

In this 1946 American comedy drama film, a young orphan girl named Sheila O'Monahan melts the hearts of three crusty old men who are struggling to find meaning in their lives. A flashback narrative told by a group of small supernatural beings referred to as "fairies," "pixies" or "leprechauns" living in an ancient tree on an American estate, we meet Rena Fairchild, a young woman courted by three men who are later revealed to be Sheila's unsuspecting suitors. As Sheila arrives at the large house where her three godfathers reside, she brings with her a dose of Irish magic and a newfound faith that ultimately wins over even the most hardened of hearts, preserving a treasured tree and its mythical inhabitants.
