Chain Lightning

Humphrey Bogart stars as Lt. Col. Matthew "Matt" Brennan, a former World War II flying ace who takes a job as a test pilot for the Willis Aircraft Company, where he reconnects with his old Army Air Force buddy, Major Hinkle (James Brown), and his former wartime flame, Jo Holloway (Eleanor Parker). To prove the new JA-3 jet fighter's capabilities, Brennan convinces Willis to attempt a record-breaking flight from Nome, Alaska to Washington, D.C. over the North Pole, which becomes a huge success and earns him $30,000, enough for a proposal to Jo.
