Raymond Massey was a Canadian and American actor known for his commanding stage-trained voice. He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Abe Lincoln in Illinois (1940) and reprised the role on TV and in How the West Was Won (1962). Notable roles included Dr. Gillespie on NBC's Dr. Kildare (1961–66) and John Brown in Santa Fe Trail (1940), Seven Angry Men (1955).
