The French Connection

Detective Jimmy "Popeye" Doyle (Gene Hackman) and his partner Buddy "Cloudy" Russo (Roy Scheider) pursue wealthy French heroin smuggler Alain Charnier (Fernando Rey), who is suspected of masterminding a large-scale cocaine importation operation from Marseille. Popeye observes suspects Salvatore "Sal" Boca and his wife, Angie, entertaining mobsters involved in narcotics, leading to the identification of Weinstock, a financier in the narcotics underworld. As Popeye closes in on Charnier, he faces a series of tense confrontations, including a high-speed car chase through New York City.
