Biography
Fernando Rey was a Spanish actor born on September 20, 1917, in A Coruña, Spain, who achieved international recognition after turning 50 for his roles in surrealist director Luis Buñuel's films and as the notorious drug lord Alain Charnier in The French Connection (1971) and its sequel. He appeared in over 150 films throughout his half-century career, earning him a reputation as "the last of the Continental guys."
