The Killing of Sister George

June Buckridge (Beryl Reid) plays "Sister George", a lovable nurse in a fictional BBC television soap opera, Applehurst. Her character is temporarily written out of the show due to her behavior off-screen, and she faces the loss of her popular role. June's long-term relationship with younger lover Alice (Susannah York) is also strained as Alice spends time with other women and becomes interested in powerful network producer Mercy Croft (Coral Browne), who tries to win her over, further straining June's volatile relationship with Alice.
