The Promised Land

The Promised Land (2019) is a Japanese drama film based on the novel by Kijima Shogo, in which a young woman goes missing in a remote village, and 12 years later, another girl disappears in similar circumstances, leading to a suspect being identified and pursued by the authorities. Character Takeshi Nakamura (Go Ayano), a former suspect, becomes embroiled in the investigation as he faces his troubled past, while Tsumugi Yukawa (Hana Sugisaki), the missing girl's cousin, struggles with her own emotional scars from the first disappearance.
