In the 1980 supernatural horror film "The Awakening," an archaeologist's daughter becomes possessed by an ancient Egyptian queen after her father desecrates the queen's tomb in Egypt. As the evil spirit takes hold, Matthew Corbeck must navigate a web of supernatural terror to save his daughter from the clutches of Queen Kara. With Charlton Heston and Stephanie Zimbalist leading this intelligent and subdued horror, "The Awakening" is a classic tale of cursed tombs and demonic possession that owes homage to Bram Stoker's 1903 novel "The Jewel of Seven Stars."
