The Lovers

In this 1958 French drama film, Jeanne Moreau stars as a shallow, provincial wife whose strained relationship with her preoccupied husband is further complicated by romantic notions that lead her to Paris and the country wilderness. Based on a posthumously-published short story by Dominique Vivant, the film follows Jeanne's journey towards self-discovery and human love after she rediscovers passion with a younger man named Bernard, played by Jean-Marc Bory.
